Suckling Style : a New Adventure in Breastfeeding + Fashion

I'm going to keep this simple : I'm in the midst of trying to keep my style message (+ branding) clear, but also having fun...so I'm changing Gyspy Theories (because I can, because it's the perfect name to continue evolving, constantly), and here we go down the rabbit hole!

Suckling Style is about finding great fashion to successfully (and hopefully easily) breastfeed our children in.  I'm in the midst of starting my breastfeeding relationship with my second child (he's three weeks old), and I'm sick of looking like a tired, breastfeeding mother in pajamas, with clips on her bras and shirts.  Let's see if we can conquer and fix this issue together!

I've started a Pinterest Board; "Suckling Style" to collect ideas.  So here's a few inspiration images that I pinned first:

Wrap Top

A wrap-styled top: just wear over your favorite nursing tank.

Wrap Dress

Nearly any wrap dress works (just try it on to make sure you can get your nipple fully in to baby's mouth without any fabric getting in the way. This usually means you'll need to wear some sort of nursing tank / bra underneath, but sometimes with dark patterned tops, you can get away without one. (Of course, you may need nursing pads anyway, in which case you will have to wear a tank or bra!)

Button-up / Button-down

And another go-to, especially if you don't mind undoing a few buttons each time, is a button-up (or is it button-down?) shirt over a nursing tank / bra.  I also have a soft spot for chambray.

I'm so thrilled to get this started!  Here's to hoping this journey is fun and maybe helps a few Moms out (and especially, myself - I certainly need some style inspiration each day!).

Under Armour & P90X

Yesterday we made our trip down to the Under Armour headquarters in Maryland.  It was unbelievably amazing!  I wish I could tell you all about it, but you know how it goes...it's a wonder we even got to see what we did.  It was so inspiring that I spent the trip back drawing sketches and writing down inspiration research.  It's going to be one heck of a ride.

Even more fantastic is the fact that I was so inspired to get back in shape (I'm so thankful for muscle memory right now).  I started P90X this morning, so this could get interesting.  Ironically, I will finish the program the same week I graduate from Parsons...a w e s o m e.  

I've also just redesigned my entire blog and written goals for 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years (I just need to add 5 years and 10 years!).  I have a passion and a mission and I'm going for it.

Branding...Me?

A good friend of mine recently recommended I start reading "Make a Name for Yourself - 8 steps every woman needs to create a personal brand strategy for success" by Robin Fisher Roffer.  It arrived yesterday, I started it this morning, and I can't wait to start implementing these ideas!  In fact, I haven't waited, I just completely re-designed my blog because of this.  I know it will always be a work in progress, but I have to start somewhere!

Question of the day: What brand do I most identify with?

I can never resist finding new artists and seeing new techniques.  Interestingly enough, both artists I wanted to write about today are using "vintage" techniques, yet it seems so modern!  Carving in miniature, peyote bead weaving with pencils...what else is out there that I am missing?!

Where do I find my?...

Inspiration?

A great burger, raindrops on glass, candlewax pooling on a tablecloth the right breeze at the right moment...
